Doctor eye optometrists specialized

Doctors of Optometry are medical professionals who specialize in examination and treatment of disorders of the eye. They also provide primary vision eye services such as glasses and contact lens prescription.

Optometrists prescribe many ophtalmic medications and treat eye inflections, eye inflammations,glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes-related eye problems and strabismus. Optometric physicians do not perform surgery but they may participate in preoperative and postoperative care if surgery is needed. Optometrists have to complete four years of college education and four years of graduate education at an accredited College of Optometry.
